  • Hanae Mori Butterfly Perfume Spray

    Hanae Mori Butterfly Perfume Spray

I liked original Hanae Mori much better

I don't see the original Hanae Mori on here but it was fantastic! I have unsophisticated taste in perfume (think vanilla and coconuts) and I really fell for the original of this. But the Butterfly... eh not so much. It just didn't have that delightful feel.

  • Burt's Bees Naturally Nourishing Milk & Honey Body Lotion
    5.0

Burt's Bees Naturally Nourishing Milk & Honey Body Lotion

It separated and got lumpy as well as watery...

This lotion has great energy and very little synthetic ingredients - which does NOT mean they are organic. I have seen reviews say that this product has organic ingredients and it doesn't and doesn't say that anywhere on the bottle. But it is paraben and phthalate free. Parabens are the worst offender because they have been found to mimic hormones in the body. Even if you are not a thyroid patient as I am, we need to be careful with our hormones. I follow activists Mary Shomon and Janie Bowethorpe to keep on top of the latest in care because the current medical standard of care is leaving MANY patients UNtreated or undertreated so we need to advocate for ourselves to get decent treatment. There are online groups and they will help you! Check them out for your own good health! As for this product, I like it a lot but it separated into lumps and watery stuff, which makes it hard to work with. I'll pick a different Burt's product next time.

    Pacifica Body Butter Tube

    Fantastic Fragrances

I have 3 different scents of these and they are all wonderful. The creams also have what I call "staying power", which means once you put them on, it doesn't feel like you need to put more on 20 minutes later. They smell almost as good as Laura Mercier's creams- no where near as pricey and Laura's creams can give a little bit sneezing... And, I have found these inexpensively. They do leave your hands a bit greasy though which is not the case with a brand I have found called Love & Toast. And Love & Toast has even LESS chemicals than this brand. Hopefully, Total Beauty will have Love & Toast soon.

  • Aubrey Organics White Camellia and Jasmine Shine Conditioner Spray
    7.0

Aubrey Organics White Camellia and Jasmine Shine Conditioner Spray

Maybe I should have used it as a conditioner instead of

a shine spray. I see good reviews for this as a conditioner. But I tried to use it as a shine spray and flat ironed over it. I don't think that was what it was meant for. So it didn't work very well. I probably should have sprayed it on dry or wet hair and left it alone. Although on wet hair it seemed it come out stiff it I straighten afterward. Also, a word on the "organic" labeling. I am always looking to get less chemicals in my life (unless I fall for the perfect shade of lipstick...) However, there are no rules for beauty products when it comes to putting the word "organic" on a product. The only thing that is organic in this spray is the aloe vera. There are no SYNTHETIC chemicals in it and it does have better energy that MANY products. So that is good. For food, unless a product or vegetable is labeled "100% organic", it can have up to 30% junk in it. And I believe that can include GMO's. This is why we try to buy local vegetables from the co-op and the health food store where we know they are making an effort to avoid GMO's. Ok, so, sorry that's a bit off the track of beauty. But it's relevant to the organic part of this product.

  • Fekkai Glossing Shampoo

I only used the shampoo portion of the Glossing line without the other products. I have very long dark hair and I couldn't really tell if it was making my hair more glossy all by itself, as the editor's review says. The heat protective sprays I use when I flat iron my hair make my hair look glossy enough and some shine sprays I've used - like bioinfusion - leave my hair stiff. So, I have Fekkai's shine spray but I'm doubting it's going to be any better. It would be pricey to use all 3 of Fekkai's products = $66. For some reason, I don't bat an eye at that for makeup, but am more tentative about my hair. Go figure. Long hair makes me lazy. One thing about this product is that it does not keep your hair clean as long as other shampoos. As the editor's review says, it doesn't wash out to that squeaky clean feeling (which Allure actually says is bad... recently. But I don't know what other way I am suppose to know that I've gotten all the many products out of my hair. Allure didn't give a real good answer to that!)

  • Sisley Tinted Moisturizer
    7.0

    Sisley Tinted Moisturizer

    Great product, but... parabens.

I have reviewed a number of Sisley products: Hydra-Global, Restorative Facial Cream and Eye and Lip Contour Balm. They are all wonderful products. They are not irritating and you see results very quickly in terms of reduction of fine lines. This tinted moisturizer went on smoothly and the color was beautiful. It was not too heavy and wore well all day. I have dry skin so it felt good. Not sure how it would work for oily skin but it claims to be good for all skin types. The problem with every one of these Sisley products is that the woman at the Sisley counter at Nieman Marcus claimed that these were "natural" products and they are not. They contain parabens and parabens are one of the first ingredients that natural and organic products try to get rid of. This is because they have been found to mimic hormones in the body. No one needs that and especially not someone with a thyroid condition like myself. The standard of care for thyroid in this country is poor. That is why we have thyroid activists Mary Shomon and Janie Bowethorpe, as well as patient groups online. Many people are going untreated or undertreated so check these two out if you have any suspicion that your tiredness, depression, scaly dry skin, hair lose or other symptoms do not need anti-depressants or are just because of "your age" or other excuses doctors give. Patients online WILL help you. Here's to your good health! Roszel

  • Sisley Restorative Facial Cream
    7.0

    Sisley Restorative Facial Cream

Wonderful and quickly effective, but... parabens.

I LOVE this face cream. No allergic reactions. I definitely noticed a difference in fine lines by using only a small sample along with Intense Anti-Age Hydration and Eye and Lip Contour Cream. Talk about fast results! And they feel great. Good energy. Unfortunately, all 3 products contain parabens. Serious sad face. I would LOVE to make these products my daily regimen, but parabens are a no-no for a person with a thyroid condition. They have been found to mimic hormones in the body and this is the last thing I need when I am trying to get my hormones in order. The standard of care leaves so many untreated or undertreated for thyroid disease. Check out thyroid patient activists Mary Shomon and Janie Bowthorpe if you suspect you may have a problem. There is a lot to learn and other patients will help you. This is a TERRIFIC product, but not worth the health risk in my opinion.

  • Sisley Hydra Global Intense Anti-Aging Hydration

I used a small sample of this product with Sisley's Restorative Facial Cream and Eye and Lip Contour Cream and saw results just with samples. So these products are really worth the money if you are looking for fast results. My problem with all of them is that they claim to be "all natural". That is what the woman at the counter said. It's true that I had no allergic or itchy reactions to any of them and they do smell wonderful. Always a plus as I am very sensitive. But every one of these products contains parabens and parabens have been known to mimic hormones in the body. This is not good for anybody but especially not good for someone with a thyroid condition such as myself. The standard of care for thyroid treatment is poor these days which is why there are thyroid patient activist and groups. Check out Mary Shomon and Janie Bowethorpe if you suspect you have an issue because many are going untreated and undertreated. Other patients WILL help you! To your good health, Roszel.

  • Sisley Eye and Lip Contour Balm
    7.0

Sisley Eye and Lip Contour Balm

    Works fast, but... parabens

This is my third review of Sisley products. I have also reviewed their Restorative Facial Cream and their Hydra-Global Intense Anti-Aging Hydration. I used all 3 of these products together from small samples given to me from the cosmetic counter at Neiman Marcus. I saw results - less fine lines, smoother skin - right away. So, they really are miracles in a jar. AND, I have no issues with itching. They are good for sensitive skin. Worth the price. BUT, the woman told me they are "all natural. That is NOT true. Every one of these products has parabens in them. Parabens have been shown to mimic hormones in the body. This is one of the first ingredients that organic and more natural products get rid of. Parabens are especially to be avoided if you have a thyroid condition like myself. Since the standard of care is so poor for thyroid in the USA and Britain, at least, there are thyroid activists Mary Shomon and Janie Bowethorpe as well as groups. Other patients WILL help you.

  • Olay CC Cream Total Effects 7-in-1 Tone Correcting Moisturizer with Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 15

I was amazed at how smoothly this CC cream went on and how nice the color was. It was not too dark or too heavy. My sample did not have an SPF, but if I can get it with a sunblock, all the better! The big problem is, in the thyroid community, parabens have been identified as mimicking hormones. And that's the last thing we need when trying our best to get a better balance on health. The doctors know little enough and we are fighting with thyroid activists, Mary Shomon and Janie Bowthrope. This product is full of parabens so I would not wear it on a regular basis with my thyroid condition and would not recommend it even for those without a thyroid condition.
