  • Benefit

Let me start by saying that I am a huge Benefit cosmetics fan. Even though some of their products are a bit gimmicky, I love them, and continue to buy them over and over. I've never gotten into the colors, but that's because I'm not much of a neutrals girl, and they obviously do neutrals super well. But I need color! Lots of color! Anyway. That being said, I think I have finally found the one product by Benefit that I just plain don't like. I'm forever looking for a decent foundation primer, and as soon as I figured out that I needed one badly, I turned to Benefit first. I grabbed That Gal because 1) it was Benefit; 2) it has the cityscape of NYC on it, and we all know that I heart NYC and 3) it was supposed to "brighten" my face as well as prime it. I really don't like the twist up style of the product. If you happen to lose the cap (and please don't - you'll forever regret it), the product will dry out and you will not be able to work the product up out of the packaging. Currently, after 2 months, I am able to get one string of primer out of the package. Bear in mind there are probably 50 holes in the thing. I'm guessing they are all clogged up. I'm not sure. I don't want to pull it open and investigate. But don't lose that cap. Seriously. But more than that, it just didn't have the brightening effect that I was looking for. I didn't see much of a difference at all. Maybe my face doesn't need brightening, I don't know. But if it did, this wouldn't be the product I'd reach for. I didn't find that it helped extend the life of my foundation, nor did it help achieve that flawless finish that I'm used to. For $27 an ounce, I need a bit more performance. But don't worry Benefit, I still love you. I love your Eye Bright, EyeCon, Ooh la la lift, and just about everything else that you've ever made.

    Gillette Venus Embrace Razor

Another Great Razor in the Venus Line

I've been using the Venus Breeze for a few years, because I'm lazy and don't want to deal with shaving cream. But the Embrace has five blades, which you would just think is overkill, but instead gives you an amazingly close shave. The shower pod is really handy, and the razor is well worth it.

  • Umberto Shimmer Shine Spray

    Umberto Shimmer Shine Spray

    Adds Gorgeous Shimmer and Shine

While browsing through Target (which, really, happens about every other day), I came across the Umberto line. Created by celeb stylist Umberto Savone, this entire line is exclusive to Target, and is quickly developing a following there. I grabbed Shimmer Shine Spray because I have been on a quest to find a shine product that doesn't make my hair look greasy. Since going blue-black with my hair, shine has become more important than ever to me - it finishes the style and brings out the unique blue in my color. This is a lovely spray, and I used it until I somehow broke the spray nozzle. I must have been a little overenthusiastic about it. It's not glittery - far from it. It just adds a subtle shine that lasts all day. I'll be buying another bottle just as soon as I get back to Target, which will probably be tomorrow.

  • Revlon Perfect Heat Tourmaline Ceramic 3-Barrel Jumbo Waver

I picked up the Revlon 3-Barrel Jumbo Waver while on my trip to Denver. My husband couldn't quite figure out what it was, but it was too exhausting to explain it. At any rate, I just got around to trying it out, and it works really well. My one complaint is in the design of the tool. When I was using it, somehow I kept accidentally turning the power switch to the off position, which obviously was a problem. I need my irons hot, hot, hot, and I would have to stop midway through and let it heat up a bit more. I'm not sure if that was just complete user error or what, but it's something I'm going to have to pay attention to the next time I use it. Other than that, this iron works exactly as it claims - you clamp it on small sections of hair (I sectioned my hair exactly as I would if flat-ironing it, so as to make sure I kept all the hair consistent), unclamp, and move down the hair shaft. It's super quick and easy, and the waves you get stay in quite well, if the iron is hot enough. Because it's actually easier and less labor-intensive than flat-ironing, it is a great way to get summer hair without a lot of fuss. Well worth the $20 I paid for it!

  • Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasion

This is a very easy product to use: apply it to a damp face, gently massaging in circles for one to two minutes. Wash it off and enjoy your amazingly smooth face. The crystals in it are diamond shaped and aren't irritating at all. It has a pleasant lemon scent, and I noticed a clear difference in my skin quality after using this product only once. The only downside? It is a bit on the pricey side. But it's worth it in terms of quality.

  • Butter London Nail Lacquer
    6.0

    Butter London Nail Lacquer

Gorgeous colors, but they seem to chip

I adore butter LONDON's color line - not only are they amazingly beautiful, but the names are definitely British. I have an amazing pearly red that I adore, but I don't wear it as often as I would like, simply because I only get about one day before it begins to chip. I'm hard on my hands, so I expect chipping earlier than most people, but I don't like changing my nail polish every other day, and I can't stand chipped nail polish. So I usually end up saving it for special occasions. If you don't have a problem with chipping, and don't mind spending an extra few $$, then this is the polish for you.

  • Pantene Pro-V Normal-Thick Hair Solutions Intensive Restoration Treatment

This deep conditioner is easy to use and can be utilized in the shower while I'm finishing up everything else. it doesn't weigh hair down, yet helps infuse hair with a bit of control. It doesn't completely eliminate my frizz, but I'm not convinced that there is a single product that can do that. It takes a village to control this mess.

  • CoverGirl & Olay Simply Ageless Corrector
    8.0

CoverGirl & Olay Simply Ageless Corrector

Generous amount of product for the price

I received this from BzzAgent, and I'm impressed with the entire line. The concealer isn't overly heavy, even with the anti-aging products in it, but it still has very good concealing abilities. It's an excellent value as well - generous amount of anti-aging concealer in the package, and it will last you forever. Plus, it multi-tasks!

  • L'Oreal Paris HiP Studio Secrets Professional Shocking Shadow Pigments

The texture just isn't right for me. Too thick, really, and has a tendency to make a huge mess. I didn't really find that the color was as long lasting as other pigments I've used. The price was right, however, especially if you can find it on sale. The included brush is actually very good quality, so give it a try. All in all, it's not my favorite, but I'll continue using it.

  • Pantene Pro-V Normal-Thick Hair Solutions Silkening Detangler

Don't just use this for detangling damp hair - I use this on dry hair, wet hair, anything in between. It not only helps get the knots out, it does a great job at keeping frizz under control and adding softness to coarse hair. If you're like me and prefer multi-tasking beauty products, don't miss this bargain.
