I have oily skin and have tried numerous primers in search of the perfect formula. This primer is my new favorite! It doesn't cause breakouts and does better than any primer I've ever tried with controlling oil throughout the day. It still isn't perfect, but my skin is so oily, I just don't don't think any product ever will be. It goes on so smoothly and has no scent that I've been able to detect. It's not a huge bottle, but I need so little to do the job that it still lasts a long time, not to mention it's affordable so replacing it is never a problem. (My apologies--I only just noticed, a year after the fact, that this review got posted before it was finished--it's a good thing I still love this product!)

A friend gave me this in Persimmon and I love it! It's too shimmery for my taste as a lip color, but I think it's fantastic for cheeks. It goes on a little dark, but it blends very easily into a beautiful shade that looks just perfect on my fair skin. I've worn it alone when I was going for a laid back, minimal makeup look, and I've also put it on after moisturizer but before my powder foundation. Wearing it that way is my favorite! It gives a very healthy looking glow that looks totally natural and not like makeup at all. Update: I took one star off because I tried to use this for only the 4th or 5th time the other day and the whole tube broke and the product went flying across the room and was ultimately ruined. What a shame!

I really like the Photo Finish Light primer so I was pretty excited to try out the hydrating version from the Smashbox brand. It is not so great. It is winter and my skin has been dry in large patches, so I thought my sample of this primer might help eliminate a step in my makeup routine. If my primer is hydrating, maybe I won't need to put on moisturizer AND primer! Not so much. This has something of a chemical smell that I didn't love. But more importantly, it doesn't seem to be all that hydrating, and it has made me break out. I love Smashbox primers, but I still can only really stand by their Photo Finish Light version.

Admittedly, I did get this as a free gift with purchase some years ago... But I have used the heck out of it! It's very durable--I've stuffed it full without any damage to the zipper (can't say the same for some dresses I own--oops) and it has kicked around my bathroom and luggage for YEARS now and has held up better than any other cosmetic bag I've ever owned. Inside the top there are wonderful little pockets to hold everything from brushes to tubes of gloss or mascara and there is a clear flap to prevent those things from falling out or mixing with the rest of the bag contents. The main part of this bag is not huge, but certainly large enough to hold some essentials. I am always able to fit all my makeup essentials for a weekend away in this bag.

Benefit has discontinued their old creaseless cream shadow and re-released it in new packaging and (mostly) new shades. I believe they also updated the formula. I loved the old version, too, but there was no denying it wasn't exactly "creaseless" on my oily lids. This new version holds up MUCH better and I am in love! I will miss some of the old colors that didn't carry over to the new version, but so many of the new shades are great, too! I have bikini-tini and holy smokes as part of a set and I love them both alone and with other shadows. I highly recommend these and I want to buy more colors!

It's been awhile since I used this and now that I see it on here, I want to go buy another tube! I have red hair and brown eyes and this shade of plum is PERFECT to complement my warm, fair coloring. I absolutely adore the BADgal formula, even if it isn't quite perfect (I experience the occasional flaking or smudging, but I love it so much I don't even mind). The brush is huge and wonderful and a couple of coats is all you need to get great lashes. Or, if you'd rather, one coat of normal black or brown mascara with a top coat of the plum. It's a really great product and I need to buy it again.

Velvet really is the best way they could describe these eye shadows. I have 4 different shades that came in one of their little kits and I am in love. They go on so smooth with plenty of color payoff. The color lasts really well and I often skip primer when I wear these because they last so well! They also layer nicely when used along with the Benefit Creaseless Cream shadows, which I also love. They have recently come out with new shades of both formulas and I want them all!!

A friend just sent me one of these. Unfortunately I forget the color name, but it's lovely! I loved the shade and the texture is almost perfect--maybe a tiny bit stickier than I would like. The applicator is a brush, which I wasn't sure I would like very much, but it was fine. In fact, I might like the brush applicator better than most of the sponge tips I'm used to, because it was easier to get a more precise application. The color is saturated enough to give a nice pop of color, but still pretty sheer. It has a little sparkle, but not so much I feel like a ridiculous teenager when I wear it. It stayed on reasonably well, though I was drinking coffee so much of it came off on the cup lid, which is to be expected with a gloss. If I can find it, I would buy this gloss in more colors!

I'm going to come right out and say that Philosophy has never been my favorite brand. I know they're popular and they make great sets, so I give their products as gifts pretty regularly, but I never buy any of their stuff for myself. And I probably still won't. But I still have to give this lotion a great review! The nice lady at Sephora tucked a little sample of this into my bag over the weekend when I was in buying mascara. It was a lovely surprise, but I didn't get my hopes up, since I don't love the Philosophy brand. I decided to use it after my shower tonight and I'm blown away. First, the tiny little plastic sample jar (it was REALLY tiny), actually held enough lotion to moisturize my whole body. So a little of this lotion goes a long way, which is always nice. The lotion also soaked into my skin quickly and left not even the tiniest hint of greasiness. I noticed that right away because I hate the greasy lotion feeling! It also left my skin incredibly soft. Even some of my super dry spots are instantly soft after I used this lotion. Now. For the reasons this isn't a 10 star review and why I won't buy it. I do not love the scent. I am not a huge fan of most of the Philosophy scents. This one is fresh and clean with just a touch of floral and probably the best one I've smelled yet, but I just don't love it enough to own it. Philosophy is also expensive and I'd rather spend my beauty budget on other products, and I'm reading in most of the other reviews that the bottle design isn't great. But if you love the scent and don't mind wrestling it out of its bottle, I definitely recommend this lotion!!

Winter was destroying my skin this year so I went into Sephora in search of a new face cream. I had a tiny bit left at home of a couple different kinds, but it was quickly clear that those were not doing the trick. I ended up grabbing a tub of this and I am SO GLAD. Technically, this isn't listed as a face cream. But to me, that just means it was only $28 for 6 oz when a normal face cream generally costs even more for one ounce. This cream took care of my super dry skin within a day. When I first started using it, I massaged in a thin layer morning and night. By the 2nd morning my skin was no longer severely dry, so I cut back to just a nighttime application. When I first put it on, I do catch just a hint of the eucalyptus scent, but it doesn't last. And that same eucalyptus is very soothing. My skin was so dry it was painful and this cream instantly made it feel better. I've also had less breakouts since I started using this as face cream! It's not marketed for acne prone skin and I have no idea what ingredient is behind it, but it's been a couple weeks and I've noticed a huge difference. It only takes a tiny bit to cover my face each time I use this. I really love that my huge tub is going to last a long time, and this is definitely something I will buy again when I run out!
