  • Suave Professionals Humectant Conditioner

I heard about this conditioner through a friend - she said it was wonderful. I had no faith in Suave, but since the bottle was only $2, I figured why not try it out. My near-waist length, thermally reconditioned and highlighted hair felt like silk after using this. As an added bonus, the faint smell of coconuts lingered in my hair. I dropped my expensive salon conditioner and used this for an entire summer. Unfortunately, after months of using this, my hair got a little bit dry, not sure exactly why. I switched back to my favorite L'oreal Feria conditioner (at Sally Beauty Supply) and my hair went right back to normal. I will eventually use this again. I am so happy to have found something so cheap that works (and smells delicious). Definitely worth a try - it is only $2 after all. Oh, by the way - forget the Humectant Shampoo - it totally stripped my hair!

For a few bucks more, get Revlon Colorstay

An ok pencil for the price. I have tried both Black and Black Brown. Nice line, soft, no tugging, true color. It does smear under my eye and I need to clean it up several times throughout the day to avoid looking like a raccoon. I still think nothing beats Revlon Colorstay - that liner is in a class of its own. I would not repurchase only because I have not found anything comparable to Colorstay. I don't want to spend the day tissuing off eyeliner smudges if I don't have to.

Clarins Advanced Extra-Firming Eye Contour Serum

Good stuff - not sure if it is worth the cost

This is great because before I got this, I would never put on eye cream in the mornings. The cream would only make my eye area an oily mess with eyeliner smeared down my face. What is appealing about this product is the fact that it is moisturizing but not at all greasy. I use my DHC eye cream or plain jojoba oil at night now and started using this serum in the mornings. I love the consistency, it feels great going on. If you wear concealer, the concealer will go on much smoother. My only gripe is the pricing. This stuff works, but I think the price is a little outrageous for what it does. If I apply a thin layer of jojoba in the morning and let that sink in, I feel like ti does pretty much the same thing.

  • Victoria's Secret Very Sexy Makeup Sheer Moisture Lipstick

I love Victoria's Secret Very Sexy Lipstick. It is very sheer and natural, but shines like a gloss and is super-moisturizing. The consistency is more of a luxurious lipbalm, rather than a lipstick. The color is a beautiful shade of natural pink - exactly what I was seeking. This is one of the most moisturizing lipsticks I have ever used. I would even wear this around the house since it moisturizes so well.

  • M.A.C. Lipglass

    M.A.C. Lipglass

Looks great, but feels sticky and uncomfortable

Sticky! SPECTACULAR color though. I wouldn't use this for everyday because it is not a low-mainenance gloss - it is very sticky and you will need to exfoliate your lips before you apply. I wouldn't just pile this color on throughout the day as the texture gets a little funky and pills. This is nice with a layer of lipbalm underneath to protect your lips. But if the wind blows, your hair will get stuck in your lipgloss and plastered to your face. And given the consistency, you'll need to scrub to get it all off. Mac's Underage lipglass (a light baby pink) is probably my favorite color of all time. I just wish is was a little more comfortable to wear.

  • Laura Mercier Metallic Creme Eye Colour

FABULOUS cream eye shadow! I have a frosty white color that really highlights my whole eye area. It does not settle into the creases, it stays on all night and it has just the right amount of shimmer. It is easy and fun to apply. Plus, I think it is so much fun to put on. It is a grown-up shimmer look that anyone can wear.

    Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser

Best cleanser hands down - been using over 10 years

I was told years ago, when I was experiencing acne and milia, to get rid of all of my cleansers, lotions etc. and just use Cetaphil. Years later, I am still using this as my cleanser and my skin looks great. Each time I stray from it, I start having skin problems again and end up going back. You can either rinse it off or tissue it off if you need more moisture.

    Redken All Soft Conditioner

    Makes hair feel silky

This is a wonderful deep conditioner. I have been using it once a week, leaving it on for 15 minutes. It leaves my hair super soft and silky. Not the absolute best I have tried, but is definitely up there.

  • Sephora Rosebud Minted Rose Lip Balm
    4.0

Sephora Rosebud Minted Rose Lip Balm

Don't believe the hype - much better balms out there!

Eh. This stuff just works ok. The mint version is 10x better than the original. This is a sheer moisturizer that adds a healthy glow to the lips - for about 10 minutes. It is very lightly tinted, but not so much so that my husband can not use. The color it gives is more of a natural lip color than an actual color. The mint is refreshing. It does not stay on all that long. I have to reapply more than once every hour. The packaging is a real issue. It is really cute - I love the retro theme. But the container can be very hard to open. I have a few containers of this that have been sitting around because I can't get them open. I guess the cover just gets on there the wrong way, and when that happens, it is stuck. When I get desperate, I have to pry it open with my husband's swiss army knife, and it takes a long time. Now I just immediately put the salve into another container to avoid this problem. The price is actually a bargain for the amount of use you should get out of it. One tub lasts me a year. Might repurchase, but DHC's lip cream is still the best lip moisturizer I have found. It can run circles around this and the tube is a lot more convenient than this rickety little tin. 4 start only because it does not pill, it does moisturize (if only for 10 minutes), it can be used in a pinch to groom unruly brows and bangs, and the mint sensation rocks. But this is not a good lip balm.

  • Prescriptives Site Unseen Brightening Concealer SPF 15
    1.0

Prescriptives Site Unseen Brightening Concealer SPF 15

Unless you actually want to enhance fine lines . . .

I really wanted to like this, I love the idea of ingredients that actually help your skin. It was horrible! I don't think there are any colors that blend with olive skin. The lady at the counter insisted I was a level 2 but it was so pasty on me. There are several variations of level 3 listed on the Prescriptives site, but they are not out in stores yet. I don't think I will bother to try them out once they become available. This concealer found every fine line in my eye area and settles right in, instantly aging me. It did not blend into the skin at all, so if you are not willing to cover up your face with foundation in addition to the concealer, this isn't the product for you. After washing this cakey concealer off, I went to the pharmacy and got a tube of Almay line smoothing concealer and actually love it more than any concealer I have ever tried. Plus it is half the price of this stuff.
