When Maybelline came out with the color show line, I was pretty unimpressed. Although I enjoyed the bright, modern colors, I thought for the most part they lacked originality for the most part. However, when I discovered the metallics and purchased “Bold Gold”, my mind was changed. This polish was the perfect gold egyptian queen shade I had been searching for all summer! In the bottle it looks shimmery and glittery; on the nails it is a smooth, perfect matte gold that looks great on fingers or toes. I like to use two coats as a default, although this polish was opaque after just one! I did discover that if you don’t mix up the color well enough before application, it can streak a bit. But that is my only complaint. Staying power was great even without a top coat, and I highly recommend this color to anyone looking into metallic shades. This was a pleasant surprise.

As someone who has suffered from severe acne since junior high, I was excited to receive the Exposed Skin Care Acne Treatment Kit to try out. It seems like I have tried it all in the effort to clear up my acne, and this summer I started using prescription face medication which still did not totally alleviate my breakouts, although they were extremely improved. When I began treatment with this kit a week ago, I was a bit nervous to be totally leaving my prescription face medications behind. However, so far, this product has been wonderful! I love that it somehow manages to be incredibly gentle while still feeling effective and showing results. While it does not seem like my skin has changed drastically in the week since I have started with Exposed, I have noticed that it absorbs so much of my face's natural oils that I no longer have to blot and powder my face throughout the day! To prevent too much drying, I have been using 100% pure ogranic raw coconut oil as a moisturizer at night. So far, I love these products, and I cannot wait to see what my skin looks like in a couple weeks!

When I first read about Baby Lips in a magazine, I could not wait for their release. It promised to be a breakthrough product with a fresh approach to packaging and color. I bought the clear mint one first and eventually the color, scent, and low cost features have enticed me to add four more of these balms to my collection. Although I am certainly not crazy about them, I don’t hate them either. My favorite feature has to be the scents. They are rich and delicious, very true to their names, and I can faintly smell them for quite a while after applying. I also enjoy the quite, bright, and unique packaging. Their pigmentation is interesting to say the least-I have two clear ones, the pink one, red one, and peach one. I have found the pink to be the most pigmented of the bunch, with the red one leaving just the lightest “just ate a popsicle” hint and the peach leaving no color at all. I understand that the primary purpose of a balm is to nourish and not tint, but since their nourishing factor is mediocre at best I expected a bit more in the color department. As for the things I do not enjoy as much: first and foremost, this product is ridiculously over hyped. It is not a breakthrough healing formula at all as it claims. While initial application truly does leave your lips unbelievably smooth, that hydrated feeling wears off within an hour and seems to leave your lips even drier than before. So although I like this product enough to continue wearing it occasionally, I have found that I have to keep whatever color I am using with me constantly because I am constantly re-applying. Overall I say try it out if you’re curious, its worth it to experiment if it works for you. But don’t have hopes set too high or you’ll definitely be disappointed.

I never hear about this product on youtube, I never see it in my friends’ collections, and I don’t read about it in magazines or online. I honestly have no idea why, because I absolutely adore this bronzer. However, for me, it is not a bronzer at all but rather a highlight. I have light olive skin, and this product is the perfect golden highlight for me during summer months. It’s the closest you can get to metallic while still looking lovely and natural. I love that the shimmer is so finely milled that it does not resemble chunky glitter at all but rather gives your skin that perfect pearlescent glow. For a natural application, one swipe across my cheeks does the trick, but when I really want to shine, two layers makes me feel like a glowing goddess. It amazes me how much of the product you get for your money, and having a mirror in a compact is always a plus. This product lasts pretty well throughout the day, and has been the only highlight I will use in the summer months. I can swirl all four colors together or pick just one depending on the look I am going for. I love that this product gives you so many options, and whatever combination you choose to go with, it always seems to work flawlessly. Additionally, I have found that any of the colors work great as eyeshadows-when I use this as a highlight, I like to use the lightest color as my brow bone highlight as well. No matter what, this product never fails to give that perfect radiant glow. Although this is a powder, it is incredibly creamy and glides on smoothly and evenly. I would love to see elf come out with more highlighters like this. This is the only drugstore highlight I will recommend!

I will be the first to admit it-I’m a total sucker for the packaging of this product. The fun colors, the smooth packaging, the unique shape, that satisfying little “click” when the product snaps shut…it’s got me. It seems like everyone is raving about these lip balms, so I had to try them out for myself. The price is great and the scents are wonderful, but eos has really gone above and beyond that. Each of the “flavors” has unique and nurturing ingredients which not only make the scents different and exciting but also do different things for your lips. Now for the reason I find these to be overhyped: personally, I think that this line is marketed for the eos experience more than the actual product quality. They have taken something as simple as applying lip balm and created an experience which is fun, easy, and unique- prior to eos, I had never seen another brand shaping their lip balms like this. However, although the product does moisturize my lips to some extent, it’s nothing revolutionary, and I find myself gravitating back to other lip balms which better nourish and care for my lips. Eos doesn’t necessarily dry out my lips; however, it doesn’t last as long as I would like, and I feel like it simply masks the feeling of dry lips rather than absorbing deep into my lips and providing actual relief. Something else I have noticed is that initially, each balm feels a bit waxy. But once you have worn it in enough, it becomes softer and much more easy to apply! I can’t say I would necessarily recommend these balms simply because I believe there are better formulas out there, but they sure are cute and fun to apply! I look forward to future formulation improvements and give kudos to eos for revolutionizing the way lip balm is applied.

When I first discovered this line at the drugstore, I was a bit skeptical. While I was mesmerized by the bright colors, the price seemed too good to be true! However, after owning three different shades for over a year, I don’t have many complaints about these lipsticks! The packaging is much higher quality than much from Wet n Wild as a brand, and the price is pretty unbelievable. Here is what to expect from the formula: -Matte finish, although there is a bit of sheen upon initial application -Doesn’t feather AT ALL -Great pigmentation -This is a thick formula. It can seem a bit sticky, so make sure you moisturize your lips prior to use. As is common with matte formulas, it’s important that your lips are exfoliated and smooth to avoid caking. Application is pretty smooth and even. However, every 4 hours or so I like to wipe everything off and start over to keep my look flawless and give my lips another dose of moisture. My shades are Purty Persimmon [bright fire orange], Think Pink [powdery light nude pink], and Pinkerbell [neon pink]. I love them equally and find all of them true to the color you see in the tube. Even though the formula is matte, I have not had any problems with them drying out my lips; however, I always moisturize under lipsticks. You get quite a bit of product in the tube, but they way they are packaged, about ¼” of product sticks out of the tube at the top. This means you have to be extremely careful when closing the product so as to avoid taking a chunk off with the cap. Overall, I would highly recommend these to anyone looking to expand their lip collection on a budget, as they have a wide variety of colors as well as the occasional special edition collections. I would love to expand my collection of this line.

For the past year since purchasing this perfume, it has been my favorite scent by a wide margin. I typically do not wear actual perfumes, preferring to stick with lighter body mists which I can freshen up throughout the day, but which are not too overpowering. However, the moment I smelled this, I fell in love and knew I had to have it. It is sweet, warm, and flirty, without being overboard. Some scents are so processed that they smell like straight up chemicals to me, but this was blended perfectly and smells pure and fresh. I typically hate the smell of roses, but they are subtle and complimentary in this scent, supporting the other tones. I would classify this as a floral scent, although it is young and fresh, not at all the type of floral scents that remind you of grandma. One spritz is all I need, and it lasts nearly through the entire day! It is my favorite to wear as an evening scent, as I feel fancy and confident wearing it, and I find it performs best in the first four or so hours wearing it. For a perfume, the price is incredibly reasonable, and since so little is used each application, a bottle lasts quite a long time. It is my new signature, and I am complimented on it every time that I wear it. I have had the same bottle for a year now, and I am not finding that the scent is weakening or lasting a shorter time. Additionally, I think the packaging is adorable, and it makes a nice addition to my vanity. I would recommend this product to anyone looking to expand their fragrance collection for a reasonable price. I find it best as a spring and summer scent, but I find myself going back to it year round.

I enjoy purchasing budget-friendly products from NYC from time to time as I have found some great inexpensive buys featured in the brand. This, however, was not one of them. I bought this product a year ago, and, a year later, I have regretted it almost every time I wear it. Whether tightlining my upper lash line or applying the product on the lower lashes (waterline, lashes, below the lashes, you name it) this pencil WITHOUT FAIL ends up slipping down below my lower lashes. Even with light application, even setting it with an eyeshadow, by the end of the day, I have had to wipe under my eyes several times. It is wonderfully pigmented, and the glitter is a nice subtle accent. Many drugstore glitter cosmetics have rough, chunky glitter, but this product’s glitter is fine and smooth. However the amount of slipping is absolutely and overwhelmingly ridiculous. The only way I have discovered to make this product work is to use it on my upper lashes only, above my lashline and blended thoroughly. Despite how much of the product slips down, I have found that enough of it stays where initially applied to keep the originally intended look. If you are willing to clean up under your eyes throughout the day, this product could work for you, but I prefer liners I don’t have to worry about. The pencil applies smoothly and blends well, and a little goes a long way. It doesn’t tug at or irritate the eyes at all. But despite these few pros and the low cost, this is not a product I would recommend to anyone. I am trying to use it up with no intention of repurchasing. Overall, this product is the most slippery pencil liner I have ever purchased and was a massive disappointment.

First things first, this site has listed this product as “discontinued”. However, I am still seeing it on the L’Oreal website, as well as in local drugstores. So if you are interested in purchasing one of these powders, take heart, you still can! Currently, this is my favorite drugstore powder. I purchased mine one shade darker than my skin tone, which has turned out to be the most wonderful mistake I could possibly have made! I have found that my favorite way to apply this powder is to swirl a brush through the product, then first apply along my cheekbones, temples, jawline, and upper forehead…or basically, any of the places I would typically contour. From there, I blend the product out. I have found that this achieves setting my foundation and bronzing my skin in one step, and as I am only using one powder to do so, it creates a natural, flawless blend. I love the smoothness of the product, and it wears relatively well throughout the day. It is incredibly blendable, and has magnificent layering powers. It blends well with a wide range of foundations, highlights, and blushes. There are only a few cons I have found to this product: 1) It could wear a little longer. As a powder, this is the product I use to finish and set my face for the day. However, after 4-6 hours, I find that the product is fading away, and I typically prefer a touchup. 2) Although the powder is great on the skin, it gets super powdery in the compact…this can get a little messy. 3) Also, there is a slight “makeupy” scent to the powder, but it is nothing overwhelming, and it fades away pretty quickly. Overall, I recommend this product. It is well worth the buy and performs great for the drugstore!

I decided to venture into the CC cream world this summer, and this is the first brand that I picked up. There are many pros and cons to this product, but overall, it simply was not for me. Pros: -SPF 35. I love that I can apply this product and spend a few hours in the sun without having to worry about my face burning. I have yet to get sunburned while wearing this product, and it has seen me through several river days. -Easy to blend…..at first. More on that later. -A true cc cream, this is not warpaint that is going to totally mask every imperfection; however, it does do a great job at evening your skin tone and vanishing minor flaws. -I found that a little goes a little way with this product…its easy to work into the skin, but it doesn’t spread very far. Cons: -Even though I am going through a normal/dry phase for my skin, this product was instantly a bit too dewy for my taste, and within a couple hours, it gets pretty shiny. It doesn’t feel thick and disgusting, but it doesn’t look too great. I’m thinking that it is just because of the level of spf. Still, oily skin: beware! -Although initially the product seems to blend right in, as it dried, I found that it changed in color and made my face appear a little red in tone. Not sure if that was just the formula, or my skin reacting, or what. Also, as it dries, it can look a little patchy, so when initially applying, take care to blend as much as possible. Overall, this CC cream is alright, but I think that personally, there are so many other products out there with so much more to offer, that this is not worth a repurchase.
