Clarins Self Tanning Gel can be used for face and body based from its packaging directions. I intentionally used it solely for my body to distinguish the results from the other self-tanner. I applied it all over my body, from neck to feet after shower (exfoliant) and moisturizer. It is colorless which feels like a lotion when applied. It has a lingering caramel scent- I can still smell it the morning after. I did not experience rashes after three consecutive uses. It produced a natural glowing tan which I absolutely love

L'Oreal Infallible Le Rouge is semi-matte with a longer hour staying power- I would say a good solid five hours for me (compared to its advertising claim 16 hours or more). The texture is a little tacky at first but settles in lightly after. It is non-drying with impeccable color pay-off. It has no annoying waxy scent. Available in 30 shades, it suits every skin color and mood. The only issue is the packaging- the uncapping and recapping requires a bit of effort as it doesn't come off easy.

At more than half the price of a another brand I am using, this 8- Fl. oz Burt's Bees Garden Tomato Toner claims to control surface shine and remove dead skin cells. It is made with tomato, cucumber and parsley extracts. Sounds delicious! Seriously, I am drawn to try products that are made from natural ingredients. The bottle is made of glass (so be careful handling it) with a red cap to differentiate it from its other product lines. The scent is refreshing- reminiscent of a tiny herb garden (and so I thought). Not overwhelming. With a piece of cotton, I applied it like a regular toner, avoiding the eye area. So soothing, it makes me wanna snooze again. After two hours, my skin is still oil-free. Five hours, still no shine. Eight hours- Not much shine. Okay I'm sold. It indeed controlled surface shine. And to top it all, I didn't break out after more than a month of regular use.

I'm not the type who switch easily when it comes to foundation. I think one of the important keys to a lasting makeup is a good foundation. After mush self-deliberation, I decided to try MUFE Velvet + based on the following product claims: * Shine-control, oil free, water resistant, complete coverage * Hides imperfections, matt, powder finish * Non-comedogenic * Size: 1.01 oz I have been using this product for over a month now and my experience is detailed below: * I used a face primer prior to applying face foundation. This is to create a flawless canvass for makeup application. It also helps lock the foundation for hours (More on face primer, click here). Combined with this process, I observed that my makeup did last more than 8 hours. * It did not totally control surface shine but it was not as horrible as you think. At about five hours later, I noticed minor shine issues. With a travel-size kabuki brush, I gently brushed my face and the oil was gone again. * A little squirt goes a long way so this size will last several months. Using the back of my palm as palette, I used a powder brush to apply this foundation. (want an airbrush finish make-up? use face/powder/stipple brush instead of sponge or foundation brush. More tips on a separate blog). * To help seal the foundation, I used Make Up Forever HD loose powder, a complimentary travel/sample size given to me by Sephora (one of the perks as a Beauty Insider from Sephora) * With a little technique, it camouflaged pimple marks/ blemishes * Oh, I did not experience breakouts, which I so love!
