When the beauty gods delivered the Schick Quattro to my doorstep, I gladly surrendered my trusty Intuition razor in the name of beauty editing duty. Having been fondly surprised by the former arrival, I now alternate between the two, depending on if I need to lather some extra love on my lovely legs (Intuition) or if I'm going for pure and simple hotness (Quattro). I was equally as hopeful about the Embrace but sadly can not report anything worthwhile. The one entertaining factor is that the Embrace, which tries hard - with an unprecedented five blades - mimics the sound of the shower squeegees revered by compulsively clean bathroom dwellers nationwide. Besides that I found the disposable BIC razor in my stall this morning at the day spa more adept and functional.

Kiehl's Superbly Restorative Dry Oil: OMG I can use it on my skin and hair?!?!!!!
I finally broke open the Superbly Restorative Dry Oil from Kiehl's and I can't stop applying it. The combination of eucalyptus, cedarwood, and orange are heavenly (sweet and earthy). My skin (and at this point my latptop;) are greedily absorbing this magical Moroccan oil and if there is any left in the morning I am going to try it on my hair and report back. Any one product that can improve my skin's suppleness and hair sheen at the same time, from the very same bottle, is a must have in my book. I can especially see how this would be a useful product to travel with. In fact if I were on a desert island for a week by myself (and could run around with greasy hair without serious social and professional consequences) I'd bath in this Aragan Oil-based product and soak my hair in it just because it is like a yummy meal for my whole body.

Serums are big right now. I have a herd of them on the top shelf of my etagere begging for my attention. Honestly, they confuse me. So does their popularity. At a time when women are pairing down their beauty budgets, why push serums? Most importantly with cleansers like Tammy Fender's Lavender & Fo-ti Formula No. c-129 cleansing milk on the, why buy anything else at all? Tammy claims to address one’s physical, emotional and spiritual well being through her highly attentive formulas which combine certified organic, traditional European ingredients as well as Chinese herbs and even some colloidal silver for good measure. Her stance on beauty is rooted in the ancient philosophy of Yin and Yang, the foundations of holistic medicine, whereby Yin pertains to the structure of the cells and Yang relates to the body’s "chi" energy. Sounds like a bunch of new age make-believe, no? NO. This cleanser is changing my life. I want to savor every drop but to spoil myself I just lathered everything from my belly button up with this gentle milk and let the Clarisonic Body Brush go to town. I feel like a new woman and at the end of this week, that's saying a lot. Also, add a dab to the end of a q-tip and moisten. Even the metallic flecks of Estee Lauder's Bronze Goddess Eye Pencil (which usually hold onto to my eyelids for dear life defeating average makeup removers) can't hold on. Tammy Fender has done with one cleanser what most, serums, makeup removers, toners, and masques can't accomplish individually. No wonder The Breakers finally got ahold of her. Enjoy!

Stop using that small, face-only brush head. Clarisonic won't tell you that, but I will. I have skin only slightly less sensitive than a baby's eyelid but I have fallen so deeply, madly in love with the body brush that I'm now using it everywhere, even on my face. 5 days out of a chemical peel. Not lying. The brush head will only cost you $25, though those of you using the old models (marked with only one "start" button whereas newer models have additional "up" and "down" arrows) will have to obtain the newer model in order to get the deeper more intense pulsing. Upgrade! Also if you order from Beauty Gone Green, they will throw in my top ranking, nii-kii lip balm - Free!

From the gracious oracle of skincare, Liz Earle, comes a divine potion combing oils (almost) too numerous to name: Argan, Avocado, Chamomile, Hazelnut, Lavender, Neroli, and finally, Rosehip. Billed as an "aromatic blend of 100% pure plant oils and a rich, restoring treat for all skin types, especially mature," I initially shelved this amber-colored oil because I am in fact only 28 and my skin doesn't yet require copious amounts of moisture. What I didn't realize until the arrival of pollen season is that this celestial concoction cures beauty ailments far beyond a simply dehydrated epidermis. Several weeks ago I awoke with the bug eyes of a sixty year old booze hound, or just any plain old hound for that matter. Desperate for something to sooth my itchy, swollen, dry eyes and clear out of eye drops I half-blindly snatched the best smelling, soothing oil from my nightstand and stumbled to the spa-room (formerly the "bathroom.") In a moment of true beauty fortuity, the superskin concentrate soothed, lifted and calmed the area around my eyes. I now use it daily as I would an eye cream, and with fantastic results. In case you're curious, the oil had been stationed on my nightstand to perform the duty of aromatherapy sleeping and relaxation aid, which it did in with equal parts skill and luxury. Try dabbing a very small bit on pressure points to aid lymphatic draining and increase the over all glow of skin. The effects are miraculous and I get to wake up feeling and (hopefully) looking a little more like Grace Kelly and less like the 60 year old booze hound. I will never-ever be with out a vile of this Jane of all trades again. If the larger 1 oz bottle is out of your price range at $70, the .3 oz can easily last you up to a month and is a bit more reasonable at $34. Enjoy!

A modern take on the Hot-Pink of my adolescent years, it took a formula this smooth and rich and a pigment this precise to take the sting (9 was an awkward year) out the 80's for this 1980-born beauty junkie. Instant glamour. Fun color. LOVING the new launches from Max Factor.

With short fat rubber bristles Max Factor's new 2000 Calorie Extreme Lash Plumper is somewhat of an unknown quantity in the quickly gentrifying neighborhood of novelty mascaras. While these bells and whistles draw you in, the desirable results of the formula itself are what will convert you. First, I took a three hour nap is this with no smudging, smearing, or flaking. This thick wet pigment never leaves lashes hard or claw-like. The formula is wet and moisturizing (possibly the reason for distinguishing it as a lash plumper rather than a simple mascara.) The results resemble those of fake lashes more than the usual mascara. I for one, am in love. Still, one request to Max Factor: develop a wand that makes "2000 calories" and "plump" sexy for the body as well as the lashes.

Liz Earle and her naturally active skincare products landed on American shores in late 2008 with relatively little fanfare, though clearly some celebs who'd been introduced to her brilliance across the pond did take note. While I delighted in the Tiffany-blue packaging at first, I soon lost the beauty butterflies when I cut myself quite badly on the moisturiser's weapons-grade plastic container and noticed an overly-earthy scent somewhat reminiscent of dark organic Wisconsin beer. Fast forward four months later to, well, today and I'm distraught by the finger tip's length remainder of product at the bottom my moisturizer. As an editor I test product all the time. Many are brilliant, some with lots of bells and whistles but there are very few (especially moisturizers) that I feel are just so simple and well suited to me that they are in fact part of me. Clearly my passion for beauty has gone too far but my point is, this earthy moisturiser is perfect. Most of its active ingredients could also be baked into a pie. It adjusts brilliantly to changes in moisture levels due to seasonal variations, and perhaps most importantly its calming nourishment never once caused a breakout. Enjoy!

We have been using Britain's earth-friendly Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser for months now. We love it. First, if you have never used a cream cleanser you are cheating yourself of one life's great indulgences. The thick rich cream is a mini-break in your own mini-spa. Also in the winter, if you aren't using a cream cleanser you should be detained for the cruel and unusual punishment of your skin. Second, the hot cloth actually removed minerals even after we used the clarisonic, so there is something to this muslin cloth business. Third, its vegan and packed with powerhouse ingredients like rosemary, hops, eucalyptus (heavenly!), coco butter, chamomile, and beeswax. The beeswax may be the only part we don't luv...a little sticky? Still we promise, you'll love it. Enjoy!
